Running and Emotional Health

Emotional crises often lead to a sense of helplessness in the face of life's apparent need to push us beyond our limits of tolerance.

Running is a way to find richness in life in spite of being in crisis. Those who are willing to reach out for help and to look honestly at themselves will likely find immeasurable benefits in physical activity. Problem is how do you get there?

I've grown over many years of practice as a runner, specialist in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries in the conviction that whether a person is capable of change is not the question.

The issue, more often, is how one stops himself or herself from maturing when confronted with difficult and sometimes overwhelming circumstances.

I specialize in treating physical disabilities that no longer cause people to be empowered. Starting on a running or exercise program will affirm the untapped richness that seemingly lies beyond your grasp.

Running and exercise, if only momentarily, will make you feel better. It is from that point that one may be better able to understand suffering, learn from negative experiences, and expand a sense of choice in the service of building more accepting and loving relationships with ourselves and others.

If you are considering running as an option then know that it is more than just exercise. It is part of a complex and unfolding lifestyle which may help blend and integrate many facets of who we are as a person.

I have written many short articles posted on my blog which hopefully will add depth to your running experience.
